Lismore

Nestled between the rainforest and the sea in the Northern Rivers of NSW, 45 km inland from Byron Bay and 100 km south of the Gold Coast, Lismore is the cultural and economic capital of the Northern Rivers region.

Lismore covers 1267 square kilometres. Lismore was, and is still occupied by the Aboriginal people of the Bundjalung nation.

Lismore has a comparatively young population, with the median age being just 37 – the youngest median age in the region

It is also home to Southern Cross university.

Which is a research-intensive institution, with its main campus in Lismore, which is home to most of its academic and research buildings – including the Law Moot Court, Nursing and Massage and Osteopathy Room, and biomechanics laboratory – as well as the majority of its student facilities.

Lismore is the commercial centre of the Northern Rivers region of NSW.  With major shopping centres and fast growing suburbs it is also the hub for a range of regional Government services.

For sports enthusiasts, Lismore has excellent facilities in Oakes Oval, a magnificent sporting ground for major events, dozens of playing fields and tennis courts, several gymnasiums, horse and greyhound racing tracks, and a very popular Speedway circuit, which is also the largest in the region.
